NIFTY ENDS AT RECORD HIGH; SENSEX UP 250 POINTS

Nifty ended at an all-time high of 10,167 as data showed consumer inflation unexpectedly held steady in September as industrial output hit a nine-month high of 4.3 percent in August. Nifty ended higher by 71. points or 0.7 percent at 10,167, its highest close ever, after having hit a record high of 10,191 intraday. The Nifty was up 1.81 percent for the week. The Sensex closed higher by 250 points or 0.78 percent at 32,432. It rose 1.94 percent for the week, its biggest such gain since the week ended July 14. Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd rose 2.1%. Bharti Airtel Ltd rose 6.2% to Rs425, Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd hit 10% upper circuit for the second session, while Tata Communications Ltd rose 2%. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd rose as much as 2.4% to Rs2,608.
GLOBAL MARKET:
Asian stocks held firm near a 10-year high on Friday thanks to expectations of brisk global growth, although investors held off chasing the shares higher ahead of the US and Chinese economic data as well as the Chinese Communist Party congress next week.
MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was up 0.1 percent, having gained 3.4 percent so far this month. Japan’s Nikkei was little changed.
